Zero calibration is based on the idea that if you show the sensor/device a 100% concentration of an alternate gas than it is measuring, the sensor/device should read absolute zero. By following this method of calibration, the user is flooding the sensing chamber with the alternate gas and driving out any trace amounts of the original gas.
